| | | Pine Martens The Pine Marten is one of my favourite mammals and I have been fortunate to see several on my trips to the Scottish Highlands. Here is one I saw during my 2006 Christmas trip ....
It appears that Pine Martens have now spread to the Isle of Skye using the Skye Bridge to cross! Skye Pine Martens branching out
I have a strange image of these elusive mammals scurrying across the bridge .... I wonder if they paid the toll or whether they waited until after many years of campaigning when the extortionate tolls were finally abolished .
Pine Martens are very interesting mammals to see and observe if you are lucky enough to see one.

| | | Re: Pine Martens Seems like you had fantastic views. I haven't see one yet- well I did see a roadkill one on Menorca last year where they are the only native carnivore + it's a smaller race.
Must get back to Scotland to see these fabulous creatures- pleased that they are making a resurgence. |

| | | Re: Pine Martens Great photographs Richard! I have only seen a Pine Marten once and I will remember it forever. It was while we were on holiday near Drumnadrochit, Loch Ness, in 2004. We went for an evening walk in a coniferous forest and we spotted a Red Squirrel on top of one of the trees, then this marten came out of nowhere and a treetop pursuit began but we have no idea of the outcome as they went further into the forest! Nicola.
