| | | Re: Cobham deer I've visited this woods a few times and I've never seen any deer there. I did stumble across deer living wild in Kings Woods, Sevenoaks l couple of years ago.

| | | Re: Cobham deer Hi Jason,
Thank you for the reply.
Many people have said to me in the (pub) that they have seen them up there,
But you can't believe to much of that lol.
There is even a rumour of a pure white one roaming about.
But I'm going to be on this now, looking for sign that there about.
Tracks,droppings and browse line etc.
Cheers Andy. |

| | | Re: Cobham deer Just come back from a walk in Cobham/Ranscombe Farm and came across four deer, one of which was indeed white. The other three were very dark, so I've come online to try to identify the species.
Looks like they were fallow.
I've been to Cobham woods and only ever once come across some deer droppings, so the chances of finding the handful that visit are pretty slim. |

| | | Re: Cobham deer Hi Edbergius,
Thanks for the reply,i really need to go up there and look for more sign there about.I thought the track i found looked like a fallow deer.Trouble is the dog is normally with me got no chance of seeing them when he's about.I will get up there early morning or early evening. What time was it when you came across them?Did they see you?Did they run off?
I have spent a lot of time up there over time, i lived in cuxton for 29 years. One day i will catch a glimpse of them.
Could you please PM me the exact area you saw them.
Cheers Andy. |

| | | Re: Cobham deer Hi Andy,
I saw them about 3:30 - 3:45 in the afternoon. They walked within about 30 metres of me and stayed for about 2 minutes before one spotted me and they ran off back the way they had come.
I'll PM you the location.

| | | Re: Cobham deer Well i still haven't seen the fallow deer as yet, but with all this rain we have been having it makes looking for deer tracks easier,i found quite a few of them in different places and a few droppings.I will persevere and hope to get lucky soon. |

| | | Re: Cobham deer Good luck. The Ransconbe Farm part of the woodland is pretty difficult to walk through and I suspect they hide away in there during the day when there are dogs about!
Just out of curiosity, have you ever come across any snakes in the area? I've come across them in most of the areas I go out to but Cobham seems devoid of them for some reason. |

| | | Re: Cobham deer I haven't come across any snakes in cuxton or cobham woods but i have seen grass snakes around the fishing lake in shore country park the other side of the motor way.I will keep me eyes open for you.I did lift some small pieces of corrugated sheet the other day, next to a slim hedgerow at the top end of ranscome farm with no joy. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
