Young brown field mouse

Hi. I am new to this forum and would appreciate some advice about a young field mouse (well I think it is a field mouse) that I have rescued from my cat. The mouse is small but its eyes are wide open and it is fully formed; its whole body is covered in fur. I am not sure how old it is. It appears unharmed; there are no cuts/bites or other injuries visible. I have picked it up gently with gloved hands and have watched it for about 10 mins. It is moving in my hand. It is not squeaking and whilst its little heart is beating fast it seems alert.I am worried it may be in shock but it has been about 10 mins since I picked it up. Is it ok to release it under a bush, in a field adjacent to the house? The cat is locked in the house and will remain so. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you

Yes, I think the best bet would be to release it somewhere away from the house, where it has cover and shelter. And welcome to WAB!
