| | Fox hunter! This morning looking up my garden from my bed I spot the Fox that visits regularly. He sniffs around a bit then spots the squirrels feeding.
He gives chase! One Squirrel shoots up nearest tree. The second one runs down the garden and leaps onto our wall. It freezes.
The fox leaps onto the wall, as agile as a cat, grabbing the squirrel by the tail. He shakes the squirrel furiously and looses hold to the grab body.
The squirrel grabs it's chance and flees up a 6ft fence and leaps into the pear tree.
Phew! Amazing.

I must fall in line with all those who wished "Mr Tod" had kept hold of his prey.
Better luck next time! |

| | | Re: Fox hunter! I`m surprised a fox would even attempt to catch squirrels, I would have thought that would be a bit too much like work for them, maybe he has had some successes in the past.

It could be that your actions are providing the opportunity for your fox. |

Neil.
EDIT: Besides, I may be feeding squirrels myself before too long (cue sad music for somebody getting old and decrepit).

| | Re: Fox hunter! The Squirrels feed on the bird feeders.
I enjoy their antics and how they out wit me for getting on to the feeders.
At the same time I adore the foxes that visit my garden. Over a few years, we have had the pleasure of two fox litters being raised in the garden.
Remember Foxes are not dogs and are extremely agile. We saw one of the pounce onto a rat last year January and sat eating it by our window.
Love all nature and feel very privileged to see all that nature brings. Sometimes even the raw side.
The fact that it all happens in a terraced house garden in the middle of a town somehow makes it even more special.
