Unknown bat

Hi

Is there a bat expert out there who can identify a bat that I came across a while ago in Norfolk, please go to Bat to see pics.

its hard to be absolutely sure from the pic - i dont suppose you have any others do you - pref one showing the nose/face

Not and expert but it could be a pipistrelle.

I think it was too big for a pipistrelle, that's one bat that I have seen. The body length of this one was probably around 7 - 8 cm.

Unfortunately not. I was not well equipped for photographs in dark places or for close-ups and I didn't want to disturb it too much either.

noctule maybe or one of the horseshoes - I'm not expert enough to give you a definitive iD either I'm afraid but i'm sure someone who is will be along shortly

Looks like a Greater Horseshoe Bat, probably a male, females get to be 11 cm in length. Great stuff!

It looks at first glance like a Noctule but I will study it further

I'm not expert on bats, but would go along with Noctule. If the photo was taken in Norfolk it's unlikely to be one of the Horseshoe Bats as both species are restricted to the west + though I guess it's not impossible I haven't heard of this species as a migrant.
