| | | Re: Problem fox Hi,
thanks for all the replies. I am shortly going to contact the National Fox Welfare society however in answer to your questions...
1. I do not trust any animal 100% near my children. I would not be happy with my children being outside in the garden at the same time as a fox.
2. The fox comes in at around 11am every day.
3. It is getting in via a hole in our neighbours fence which they have tried to repair but very badly. It can get out down the side of our garage but we are going to block that up at the weekend.
4. I am based in Essex
I will post again on here when I have some more news!

| | | Re: Problem fox I understand your concern Emma, and am right behind you regarding the children and not wanting them in direct contact with a fox, particularly not an ill one!
However, can I encourage you not to hermetically seal your garden off? There have been lots of posts on this website encouraging people to make their gardens MORE accessible to wildlife, particularly to hedgehogs.
For years we had a fox pass through our garden daily. He always stopped to visit the rabbit hutch, and to check whether I had remembered to bring the bunnies in from their run in the evening and tuck them away securely... On the rare occasions my children saw him, they were absolutely delighted.
In the long run, having wildlife in your garden is incredibly rewarding both for you and your children.
Do let us know the outcome regarding your fox! And welcome to WAB. |

any animal that feels threatened will defend its self.
This fox needs medical attention so if you can work with the wildlife centres to try to catch it as you said it cannot jump the fence it could be caught with a noose on a long stick as the rescue centres use and as its cold atm could the kids be kept in for a few days until the fox is caught so not block up the hole where its getting in until its caught.

| | | Re: Problem fox Couple of thoughts.
Is the fox already either so tame or so ill that it comes into, or stays in, the garden if your children are there? Foxes are a regular sight in our garden but none will enter the garden or stay in it if there is anyone about.
I don't know if this applies to all animal rescue organisations but I've seen a few on TV who after getting the animal back to health release it in area it was rescued from.

Emma | DONT block a way of escape for the fox (as in side of garage ) to run away i have not read any other posts here if you dont leave a escape route for the injured fox then it might be a problem |
