Magenta Bat Detector Kit

Seeing the bats over the past few days has got me thinking what they could be, probably Pips at a guess. But i fancy buying a bat detector, has anybody used the Magenta Kit that you build yourself? any comments about it?

I use a Magenta when I take Bat walks out It is a nice rugged device
The inside is a simple layout and I will build one one day but have not
done so to date. Only drawback is the lack of illumination for the controls
Brother in law uses the Magenta with the LED readout and I use a
Petterson D200(possibly the best frequency range on a heterodyne)
Batbox seem to be the favoured detector,the Duet especially for serious
bat workers(along with the more expensive Petterssons)

I might get one and put it together. It doesn't look that hard and my dads works with electronics anyway so he can help if i get stuck

I would probably get a more expensive one if i could afford it, but as i'm on a budget and i don't know how often i'd use one it makes sense to go for a cheaper option

I regularly lend my Magenta out and the sheer amazement
on the faces of people (children especially)when they hear
the bats is fantastic to see Bat Walks are a pleasure

Always remember to use headphones they really help to pick up calls
you might otherwise miss
Magenta are going to send me assembly instructions so that I may be able to build them for other people

A friend uses one and in some circumstances it is more sensitive than my expensive ready made one! Go for it!

I've not had chance to order one yet NS what with being back at work this week will get one ordered soon enough though

BTW you can order one ready assembled from magenta for 15 notes more which might be better for those with busy lives
