| | | hedgehog house hi I'm new to the forum
I've just built my first hedgehog house in my garden. The entrance tunnel is south facing and under a bush and leads into an upturned bucket covered with soil.
does this sound suitable? Also am I too late to attract any hedgehogs this year |

| | | Re: hedgehog house Is the entrance tunnel about four inches across? It may be a bit late making the house as it takes quite some time for the 'uman smell ' to leave the wood. Best wishes for a visitor though.
I made one a couple of years ago. I popped in a small ammount of hay and left it, this summer I had a look and it was partially filled with leaves, so I presume it was being used. Cheers, Tony. |

| | | Re: hedgehog house yeah roughly about 4 inches I made the entrance tunnel out of 3 long flat stones and cut a big notch out of a plastic bucket for the actual home so there's no wood in it.
oh well if it works then its good if not then at least I tried |

| | | Re: hedgehog house Hi and welcome to WAB. You are probably too late for hogs this year, but you never know... and it's good to start getting your garden ready for them for next year.
I have a big wood and brush pile down the end of my garden, and live in hope that some hedgehogs will move in, but so far I havent had one. In fact, havent seen a hedgehog here for about ten years. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
