I agree - from what we can see it is probably a little large for Pygmy shrew.

They're my husband's hands, sort of average size for a fella I suppose.
We're not very posh so might of known it would be the "common" sort if it's in our garden

This one was very much alive. I inadvertently put it in my car (it was hiding in a box of plants) and it took us over 24 hours to catch it after it got up behind the dashboard and in and out of every other tiny hole in the car.
When we eventually had it cornered my husband tried to scoop it into a container and it ran up the inside of the sleeve of his jumper. While he was hastily removing his jumper I grabbed the camera, (I like to be helpful) |
