| | | seals at Donna nook Hello
I know this is an old subject that comes round every year (having read several pages of threads on the subject over the last couple of days plus info from lincs wildlife and other websites)
Hopefully finally getting to Donna Nook tomorrow after 2 years of trying (first year dad in hospital , second year snow on only weekend I could go with familly)
Going with my wife and 9 year old daughter and going to park at the Stonebridge carpark that I believe is the one for the viewing area.
Equipment wise I will be taking 300m lens, 28mm (fixed) 50 mm(fixed) and 15-75lens (plus plenty of warm clothing)
Planning on getting there around 07:30 - 08:00.
Any advice on how to get the best out of the visit especially for my nine year old. (also read on the lincs wildlife site that a butty wagon is around during peak times - true or not for those that have been this year)
Once again sorry for a perennial subject
(going to follow this with a visit to the chippie in Cleethorpes and a look to see what gullls etc are about on the way home ) |

I'm thinking of dragging the family along this weekend.
Cheers. Nik.

Cheers. Nik. | Had a great time, all 3 of us loved it and already planning to go back next year.
Got there around 08:30 and parked in the farmers field (£1) he had some loos in the field plus butty wagon (also a stall selling veg and someone selling hats gloves etc)
A quick walk over the dunes and straight to the seals. Amazing sound and sight. https://picasaweb.google.com/riggysp...eat=directlink
the above is a link to a few pics
Edit just been looking at the lincs trust website for numbers and found this
"Monday 28 November
Beach and viewing area closed to all visitors
An unusually high tide has washed away part of the fence and damaged the path. Seals are spread throughout the public viewing area, pups have become separated from their mothers and some pups have been washed out to sea.
The viewing area is currently closed to all visitors. The distressed seals need peace and quiet in order for mothers to relocate their pups. In addition, with seals within the public viewing area, public safety cannot be guaranteed" http://www.lincstrust.org.uk/wildlife/index.php

I'd probably better reschedule a visit then then, if the viewing area is closed for now (thanks both for the info/link!).
Cheers. Nik.

| | | Re: seals at Donna nook Neil and I were planning a trip this Friday. We'll keep an eye on the Lincs Trust website but may have to postpone.
Hope most of the mothers and pups have been re-united.
