| | | Sika Deer, Lancashire I'm having a couple of days in South Cumbria next week, and I'll be coming back home through Lancashire. I understand there is a popullation of Sika Deer in the Ribble Valley and Gisburn Forest (I think) does anyone have specific advice on places within these large areas where I may be able to view them?
Thank you for any advice. |

| | | Re: Sika Deer, Lancashire In my experience Gisburn's Sika Deer can be difficult to find - in contrast to those at RSPB Arne in Dorset which are very easily spotted and very approachable.
However, I believe they're often seen from the red cycle trail starting from Cocklet Hill car park. Good Luck

| | | Re: Sika Deer, Lancashire Thanks for that Jeff. I had a plan to try and see all the British deer this year, and the idea was that Sika would finish it all off. Unfortunately on the one day I had at Woodwalton I couldn't see Chinese Water Deer. Despite that, seeing five species is pretty good going. |

Sorry to hear you didn't manage to see the Chinese Water Deer at Woodwalton Fen - one of my local reserves - as there's now a very well established population of them there. Perhaps next time eh
