| | | tiny hedgehog hi all my first post,i have a small hedgehog visiting, today was the first time he came out in the day,he/she has been visiting for about 3 weeks, tried all kinds of food[mealworms,peanuts,dog food] no bread, the only thing it eats is dried mealworms,HELP |

| | | Re: tiny hedgehog If it is a small hedgehog then it will not survive the winter and hibernation, also if it is now visiting during daylight this points to the hog certainly being in trouble.
Next time you see the hedgehog catch it and place it in a high sided secure box with something to snuggle under such as newspaper ripped into lengths or an old towel and pop a small container with some water in there with it.
Pop the box and hog somewhere quiet and dark away from disturbance.
If the hedgehog is very small then a hot water bottle with hot but not boiling water well wrapped in a towel can be put in the box as well (don't let the water get cold though). Don't put a hot water bottle in if the hedgehog has things that look like small grains of rice on it though as these are fly eggs and warmth increased the speed at which they hatch. For a larger hedgehog the hot water bottle can be done without.
