I've never seen one either. I would say they are pretty rare as I live in an area of high numbers of Grey Squirrel + have never seen any obvious mutations.
Obviously they do occur but not with any regularity. |

I have an albino squirrel that has been coming into my garden for about a month now. There is also at least 3 grey squirrels too. he is gorgeous and his tail looks so soft and feathery. |

There used to be a white squirrel that lived by the route my bus to school followed, which for obvious reasons was very easy to spot in the trees.
That was over 30 years ago though... |

Fascinating flurry of white squirrel spottings. I thought it was melanistic squirrels that were on the rise!
