Did these seals open their mouths to each other?

Slapping is usually associated with aggression, I have never seen it used in this contex.

Yes they were definatly opened mouthed and hissing , the slapping was performed at this stage and while moving away from confrontation. Think I will go down there this weekend to record the behaviour
