Forest Of Dean - Best Place To See Wild Boar/Fallow Deer?

Hey Everyone

I am planning a trip to the Forest of Dean next weekend and would love to see either the Wild Boar (I know they are elusive!) and/or the Fallow Deer.

I just wondered if anybody knew of any good locations to look - from past experience perhaps - if you would rather not post here, a PM would be great

Is one of the Forestry Commission car parks best or perhaps somewhere else?

Any help would be genuinely appreciated!

Hi Rob,

I've never been, so I can't offer anything from personal experience, but a recent issue of the British Wild Boar Organization's newsletter mentioned a few places in the Forest of Dean that had suffered routing damage by boar, including Trafalgar Mine and Cannop Ponds picnic site. These may be worth considering as starting points. Deer-wise, I saw a few pics that Ben Lockie posted a couple of years ago taken between Parkend and Whitecroft and another at Brierley. This time of year, you'll no doubt hear the deer before you see them.
