| | | Which Car Park Should I Use At Richmond/Bushy Park? Hi Everyone
I'm off to Richmond/Bushy Park next week and I am looking to see action from the Red Deer Rut. Now from looking on Richmond/Bushy Park website it appears that there are 6 or 7 car parks at each site .... now obviously I only want to park on one car park at each site. Which car park is best at each site to get in the middle of the action so to speak? Is there anywhere to park outside to save on car parking charges also?
Also what are my chances of seeing Ring Necked Parakeets at either park? Any good places to look for them in the park in particular?
Cheers, Rob |

Firstly you can't miss the Ring-necked Parakeets- they are the most obvious birds in Richmond Park (don't visit Bushy much, but you shouldn't have trouble there either) + I suspect there must be a few hundred as they seem to be everywhere you go.
There's no parking fees ( a plan to introduce them came in for a lot of public disquiet) + in Richmond Park the deer are well distributed through the area. On Friday there were a few fairly close to Pembroke Lodge where you can park, loos + also eating oppurtunities).
If you're into exotics (assume so with your interest in the parakeets) there are always plenty of Mandarins in Isabella Plantation + sometimes on other ponds (they usually roost on Pen Ponds but often not there during the day). I have counted in excess of 60 birds, but only saw c25 on my visit on Friday. Egyptian geese are normally by Pen Ponds + some of the other ponds.
Enjoy you visit there's a wealth of wildlife to see there. |

Bushy Park - Diana Fountain car park I find to be the best.

Are the public disquieted by this charging, too? |

Are the public disquieted by this charging, too? | ...Yes I wonder if maybe they are charging by friction.
As the carpark charge might cause friction amongst people...erm and some resulting electricity from the friction... alrighty

On good weather days both can be full, so either go early morning or late afternoon. Probably aim for the Diana fountain one - then walk east to find the best of the deer action.
In Richmond Park, Pembroke Lodge is by far the busiest car park and queues are fairly common. I usually park in the Broomfield car park (south edge of the park) as this provides good access to Pen Ponds and the Isabella Plantation, has a place for drinks etc and is usually fairly quiet.
