| | | Re: Horse colour queery I think these are all actually versions of chestnut. Very basically, manes and tails are dark in bays and the same colour or paler in chestnuts.
The middle one may be described as palomino, but I'm not sure about the back one.
I think buckskins are a pale version of bay.
It's a long time since I've had anything to do with horses though.... |

| | | Re: Horse colour queery Yes chestnut palomino and I am not sure if the other is a dun or another palomino..
Duns normally have black socks, black main and tails so I would go with another palomino.
I could be wrong and it could be a dun..:P

| | | Re: Horse colour queery I have been told on good authority that the one at the back is a Dun.
Although I have six horses, I didn't have a clue what colours they are!

| | | Re: Horse colour queery I would also agree with Mrs Woodman. The front is a chestnut - they can vary a bit, this particular shade sometimes being called a "bright" chestnut (as opposed to liver chestnut which is a darker brown). Chestnuts have a mane and tail which is either the same colour as their body or is a pale yellow/cream colour - called flaxen (this is like the mane and tail of a palomino.
The middle horse is definitely a palomino.
The rear horse looks dun to me - the indicator being a darker mane and tail than the body - as opposed to a palomino which generally have lighter mane and tail than body.
