| | | Hedgehog food I am lucky enough to have at least four hogs visiting our patio every evening for their supper, and at the moment I'm using Chapel Wood hedgehog food, which they seem to like. It's not cheap though, and I wonder if anyone could recommend which dried (cat? kitten?) food to mix in with it.
I just spread a good handful over the paving slabs - though I made a feeding station, they are far too badly behaved, and all tried to get in at once, causing more barging. We have cats locally, but they don't seem to be out in the evenings, and my hogs polish off their supper before we go to bed, so I guess cat food would be OK?
Also, can anyone suggest how to stop the slugs joining in the feast? If I go out and remove them, the hogs leave pretty quickly.
many thanks

| | | Re: Hedgehog food Mine like any left over cat food and they love any type of crunchy cat biscuits. I think peanuts and raisins are also taken. |

| | | Re: Hedgehog food I feed mine a mix of kibbled peanuts, raisins, sultanas, crushed digestive biscuits, hedgehog bites (forget the brand I think it was Gardman), dried mealworms (if I can find them cheaply)and cheapo poundshop cat crunchies. I mix a big batch up which lasts a month or so. Plus they eat spilt bird food and other scraps the birds have missed. |

| | | Re: Hedgehog food I feed mine CJ Wildlife food for Hedgehogs - not cheap at about £2.50 from Adsa for a 220 g packet. I also give them the Garman hedgehog nibbles - which they love. Mealworms, sultanas and sunflower hearts are also put out and eaten first. I tried the Chapel Wood hedgehog food and the hedgehog food from Wilkinsons but they turned their noses up at that.
I put my food under a plastic cover and only occasionally do two hedgehogs turn up at the same time and sqabble over the food.
Over the past week the food hasn't been touched overnight so I think the hedgehogs are now beginning to hibernate. I will still continue to put food and water out every night. |

| | | Re: Hedgehog food Also, given the food I put out is Iams kitten biscuits, and the saucer is under cover inside a hedgehog feeder, how long can I use the same lot of biscuits before I need to refresh them? |

| | | Re: Hedgehog food I seem to have 4 large hogs visiting through the evening and two that are certainly 'babies' being about half the size of the others, so I'll be feeding everyone that's around for as long as they come.
Actually, what I've just written sounds completely daft, but I guess you know what I mean - keep feeding yes? |

MIKE
Iams dos keep well if dry though gos off very quick if wet.
