| | | Bat ID please This little bat was found on top of a wall in the middle of the day - not sure if he's a pipistrelle? He was about 4cm long at the most and had an upturned nose. |

| | | Re: Bat ID please It looks like a common pipistrelle to me. Is the bat OK?
*Just a note that it isn't a good idea to handle bats with bare hands due to the extremely low risk of contracting rabies. You may see images of bats in ungloved hands on WAB, some of those images were taken by handlers who have been inoculated against rabies and can identify bat species with lower risk. More info on this subject can be got from the Bat Conservation Trust and DEFRA. |

| | | Re: Bat ID please I agree, with Woodman on the ID and on handling bats. Not only is handling bats a potentially dangerous thing to do in terms of the risk of disease, they are also very fragile and can easily be damaged. Moving them or handling them should only really be done by someone licensed to do so, or if the bat is in imediate danger.
It doesnt look particularly healthy either. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
