| | Brown Hares Hi, I am trying to find a reliable location to photograph Brown Hares in Worcestershire (in particular) in the Wyre Forest area or near by, say 20 mile radius. If anyone can help please get in touch. I have tried contacting land owners however this is proving to be painful exercise. |

| | | Re: Brown Hares Sorry can't help, but I have been watching a beautiful hare today, close to home. Lots of brown hare here. However, "home" is a long long way from the Wyre Forest.

| | | Re: Brown Hares If you were to sit on the bonnet of my van most mornings I'm sure you could get some real action shots of the fella that meets me at the blind corner just after the hump-backed bridge and races me up to the junction. But, like Farplace, we're a bit far from your location.
Perhaps you're going about this the wrong way. Try turning up with a shotgun to shoot hares and the landowners will welcome you with open arms.

| | | Re: Brown Hares Plenty of brown hare here too on our farm (yes Jackeroo I'm that dreaded species a LANDOWNER who hates prejudice!) in Leics. I grew up on the edge of Wyre Forest and recall that most of the locality is well hedged and hares usually like a more open arable landscape, I also worked on farms down near Worcester and there were hares there. My memories are hazy but perhaps between Kidderminster/Worcester a better area to look than around Wyre? |

But, perhaps, a little broad in my post and with my tongue hovering somewhere in the region of my cheek. I worked, from my pre-teens to my early twenties, on and off and in varying capacities, on various farms for very various farmers. I've shot my fair share of hares but that was back before they got so scarce and when they were a real agricultural pest. We never shot merely for sport, though there was an element of that in it and we were careful with the season we shot in. I ate a good part of what I shot and what I couldn't eat I passed on to who could, including selling them to recoup part of the cost of cartridges etc. In fairness, I never personally came across a farmer or landowner who took a particular joy in dispatching wildlife. So I should apologise if I gave the impression of tarring all landowners and tenants with the tarry brush of irresponsible land management in that sense.
Jack.
