| | | What Poo Is This? Hey Everyone, A bit of background info:
I live in an Urban garden in the Midlands and have had 23 different types of bird visit and until recently 3 mammals (Grey Squirrel, Red Fox, Wood Mouse) - around 2 weeks ago we saw a Hedgehog in the garden and it has been visiting nightly ever since.
A few days ago I saw a couple of droppings on the patio that I dismissed and thought nothing more of. I have been in the garden today and found another one of these droppings - this time under the feeding station. It's black, tapered at one end and looks kinda mushy....
I have taken a photo for you to have a look
After looking in my book it looks a little rat like (I hope not!) we have never had signs of rats before in the 7 years we have lived here. On the other hand it doesn't look completely formed to me at the end - could it be Hedgehog poo (the Hedgehog we have visiting is quite small) or could it be something else?
Any help would be appreciated!
Cheers, Rob |

Looks like hedgehog to me, but could also be woodpigeon I get a lot of hedgehogs and also woodpigeons in my garden, size wise looks small for a hog but colour looks more like what my hogs leave than that what the woodys leave witch is a bit lighter but this would depend on what they have been eating. Did you notice what it was made up of any beetle caseing in it if so hog poo, if it seems to be made up of vegative mater I would think woodpigeon MIKE |

| | | Re: What Poo Is This? Agree with Mike. If it is a young hedgehog, it'll benefit from a little help to fatten up for its impending hibernation. |

| | | Re: What Poo Is This? Isn't hedgehog dung long and thin and straggly ?
This seems too regular in shape too me and looks more deer like, but then I would expect to see a pile of about 10 of these, and not the odd few.
Just not convinced it's hedgehog.
