| | | Baby field mice Hi, This afternoon I was presented with a baby filed mouse, I thought I would let nature take it course so I hid the baby in the woods. Several hours later, guilt got the better of me and to my surprise the baby was still alive! I gave it some water and it has been in a vivarium ever since, it had a little wander and a wash and has now settled down to sleep. I have left some food in with it, so I just need to know "what comes next" If the mouse has eaten in the morning, should I realease it?
Many thanks

| | | Re: Baby field mice By "presented" do you mean by a cat or by a person? If it has been caught by a cat then infection may set in(it may not look sick but will be dopey and easily handled). If it is old enough to eat solids then you should free it once it's got it's strength back. If it is very young (i.e. still has it's eyes closed then a wildlife centre would be your best bet. |

| | | Re: Baby field mice Hi, sadly we lost the little fellow during the night! I really thought that he had a chance, at 1am this morning he was wondering about, cleaning himself!
It was my cat that had caught him, but as I keep telling my son we gave him somewhere warm and quiet for him to spend his last few hours! I love my cat dearly but I wish she would not do this!
