| | | Is this a vole ? Hi Guys,
I took this photo yesterday and I think it's a Vole but I'm not sure.
I've seen plenty of water voles locally and this was much smaller.
If it is a vole I also wondered what specific type.
Any help or advice really appreciated
Regards,

many thanks indeed, really appreciated. I've had another look in my book, is a Field Vole the same as a Short-Tailed Vole ?
Sorry to sound thick.
Cheers

The animal itself its hunched, which they do when feeding although this one isnt. It also appears to be in the open and judging by the photo has been approached very closely. As a species they like to stay in cover, much more so than bank voles. |

| | | Re: Is this a vole ? Guys,
I wondered whether it was OK myself as it didn't run off.
I didn't get too close, the photo was taken using a 200mm lens, but non-the-less I would have expected it to disappear.
When I moved looking for a better angle it did then bound off into the undergrowth but I did think the same as you guys when I saw it
Best

| | | Re: Is this a vole ? Apologies as well for the picture as the depth of field, at f2.8, is too shallow, hence the rear of the vole being out of focus.
I wasn't expecting such a shot so took a few hurried pictures without the chance to change camera setting
