| | | Re: small hoglet Sadly this does happen, and no you couldn't have done much more. If the hog was that close to giving up a rescuer wouldn't have had much of a chance either.
As Jan said at least the hog was somewhere warm, safe and quiet with food and water. |

| | | Re: small hoglet I have now found out why it may have been so weak was told today that some one not far from were found this hoglet had last week found four small hoglets in out house when doing a clear out and had left them and stoped clear out but by next day thay looked in distess had called rspca who did not come till next day but had left hoglets in out house till rspca came but by then one was missing the other three I am told are ok but were in need of food (think rspca took them to a place near crewe thay use) person who had them in out house had not thought to leave any food or water for them nor had rspca asked them to!!. so i now think the one I found most likely the one that had gone missing so would of been alone for over a week, one other thing been told that there is an adult on a road near by thats been hit by a car. dont know how long young stay with adults but hoglet i found was small no more than five and half ins nose to tail.

| | | Re: small hoglet Mike, so sorry to hear the little mite didn't make it. It is feasible that this was the 'missing' hoglet, and that length of time without enough food or water would have severely compromised his chances by the time you found him. Well done for trying, and more importantly, for caring x |

| | | Re: small hoglet Thanks all for your help with my hoglet I did think he/she was going to pull though but will not let this ever put me off helping any animal in need as over the years have had many different mammals and birds at my home that have had problems and this is 1st time I have lost one wilst in my care and also often get called by members of my angling club of which I am a bailiff and water keeper to rescue birds or mammals or for advice I will always try to help any animal well almost any I dont like rats
thanks again
