water voles in cheshire

Doing a personal project over the next twelve months. I'm trying to find and photograph water voles in the cheshire area, especially warrington. Spoken to lots of people already (vole officer, rangers etc) and have a few clues.

Its not easy as warrington seems to have or has had a mink population problem.

If anyone has seen one within cheshire I'd be grateful if you'd PM me with any information. I've promised all data and images will be passed on to Cheshire Wildlife Trust who helped me alot already.

I'm in Cheshire and near water, but I'm afraid i haven't seen any water voles. I will look out for them, it is very interesting that you think they could be here.

Hi Annie,

We do have populations in Cheshire thats for definite. Lots live in the drainage ditches passing through fields and certain sections of a few canals.

Hopefully in twelve months time I'd like to do an exhibition to show the people of cheshire what an amazing county we have an the secret world that goes on, nobody see's.

Dont no of any near me(RUNCORN) but i do a lot of fishing so will keep an eye out. but think i have seen them on river gowy between helsby and chester

Don't think I've ever seen a Water Vole before....anywhere.

Sort of; nearer to liverpool though, it in cheshire on the mersey with widnes on other side liverpool 11 miles away warrington 6 away and manchester about 24 miles away

I think there've been some sightings in Nantwich, but that may be too far away.

Nantwich is in cheshire and think they do have water voles in places was down that way few months back and some did mention water voles at a course I was on at a local collage run by the E.A
