It's best not to "give" them slugs as these can cause lungworm...although they do eat them as a small part of their natural diet.
Dpo please always have clean water available in the front AND back garden, and you could help by putting out food for them:
cat or dog food, chopped peanuts, sultanas, dried mealworms etc (not milk).

I did consider reporting to the RCVS as well and if it's a break in their code of conduct I guess this may be worth doing?
| Absolutely. The RCVS can fire a warning shot. They are supposed to treat ALL animals taken in to them not just the ones that pay. I'm getting more and more fed up with vets who go into it just for the money. It makes you wonder how these people treat your pets if they don't care about animals. |

| | | Re: Couldn't believe this! It great you took them to newton tony, I am a long term volenteer thereyour hoggie will get the best care. If you want an update it is best to phone them.
Under their code of conduct, all vets should look at any wildlife for free, some will even take so far as to not charge for small treaments.
Out of interest I'd wouldn't mind knowing witch vets you tryed to us. If you could PM me that be great.

Yesterday my husband received a call from the wildlife centre asking him if he wanted to come and collect his hedgehog!
Apparently they said he was the smallest hedgehog they've had to make it, and they thought he wasn't going to. He had blood in his pooh and was seriously malnourished, he had to go on a drip but he pulled through
Two months later and he is full size and perfectly healthy.
We've put his box next to the hedgehog home we built but don't know if he'll use it. He was in our beech hedge last night, I wonder if he remembers this is where he came from?! The food the centre gave us to give him disappeared, no guarantee that he was the one to eat it but something did.
Would love him to hibernate in the house we made but overall just hope he keeps away from danger and has a happy start after the winter.
Just can't believe he made it, all thanks to the wildlife centre that looked after him! |

So very pleased to have him back, we love our hoggies! Just keeping fingers crossed his natural instincts kick in okay and we see him out and about after hibernation |
