| | | cat markings I know this won't be up everyones street, and I do not want to start a riot on cats, as has happened before, but i was pondering the idea that maybe there had been some research into the most effective/ ineffective types of fur markings on cats , meaning, does it make a cat less effective in catching birds/ mice/ etc if it's black/ white/ other...? if so, everyone should have the same cat!! or, maybe G.M. cats so that they only eat canned xexexexe!!! seriously though, i was wondering..
peace

| | | Re: cat markings i imagine the cats that are nearer to their wild ancestors in markings and colouring are able to blend in with their surroundings make the better hunters.
But its a mute point research proving that cats are altering the behaviour of birds including foraging patterns and the use of different habitats and nesting sites,so regardless of the fact of the cats hunting ability, in the eyes of the bird it still a predator, so the mere presence of cat means that birds can become to scared to nest and also fail to find adequate food
though the birds may have a heavyweight champion in their corner as cat collars have been found in the nests of eagle owls,so those cats that have lost the ancestral camouflage through selective breeding are going to make easy targets in the future when more owls reach our shores | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
