Hedgehog - unwell?

I found this chap on an exposed grass verge today at about 10 am. It was warm and sunny. I couldn't seen any injury but he/she didn't seem well. A local resident was working in her garden and agreed to take the hedgehog into her property. I reckon I did the right thing.
Can anyone confirm that my actions were appropriate and suggest whether or not the hedgehog will be OK?

A hedgehog should not be out at that time of day and as such does need to be taken to a rescue unit, animal hospital or vet for them to have a look at it.

It is also important at this time of year to get the hedgehog checked out ASAP if taken in just in case it is a nursing mother. A hedgehog rescuer will be able to determine this very quickly.

If the hedgehog is still with the local resident can you please get them to give a local rescue centre a call. Also if it is then listen out also for a high pitched half chip half squeal in the area near to where mum was found which is the sound a distressed hoglet will make if it's mum doesn't return.
