| | | young hedge hog Hi is it normal to see hedgehogs at this time of day just had one a young one I think, at my back door did not seem to be any thing wrong with it. Do get them a lot in my rather over grown garden and is a good number off hogs on the estate I live on I do see odd one I am affaid dead on local roads. I have also had them comeing in house now and then though cat flap affter my cats food. Have got a pic but 1st one was to big to upload have taken another and will see if can up load that one in a bit. |

| | | Re: young hedge hog It's not TOO unusual to see young hedgehogs after 7pm in summer. Providing it is moving normally and has no injuries, it will be fine. It will be looking for food, as they need to put on a lot of weight before winter. Also, because of the recent hot weather, it will be thirsty. Put a shallow dish of water out for it along with some meat-flavoured cat food.

| | | Re: young hedge hog I have done that he or she ate some cat food and had had a good drink from water i have out for birds and think i have more than one in garden at the moment or it moves very fast, I am thinking may be adult has had a nest in my compost heap with young |

You can try chopped peanuts, dried mealworms (or fresh, live mealworms), banana, raisens, and sunflower hearts.
