What leaves slug like droppings?

Recently I have noticed long black slug like droppings unto 4inch long on my lawn. We don't have a pond or water feature in our garden. Can anyone tell me what could be leaving these and do I need to take any action?

Hedgehog perhaps ... put out a shallow dish of water. Hedgehogs can produce extra long droppings if they are a bit dehydrated.

If you can post a photo of the droppings, you can get a more definitive reply I'm sure.

They could even be Wood Pigeon droppings, but without a picture it's hard to identify. I've noticed recently the same thing on my lawn, but I've seen a group of 3-4 Wood Pigeons and Squabs and I'm sure they're the culprit in my case!

Even if you don't know if you have hedgehogs, make sure there is clean water out all year round.
I would say hedgehog.
