High number of dead grey squirrels? Wilts/Dorset/Hants?

I and some of my neighbours have commented on the fact that we have come across a seemingly larger-than-usual number of dead grey squirrels in the past two weeks. They almost seem to be falling out of trees - some along roadsides, pathways, two dead on the lawn this morning - all untouched by cars and not taken by other animals. Wondering if anyone else has noticed something similar? We're based near Salisbury, Wilts.

Some places have poison traps set out for them, I've seen them around Dorset.
