| | | Re: Urgent appeal! Here in Kent we haven't had a substantial amount of rain for at least 2 if not 3 months now and what with the hot weather we have been receiving lately everywhere is pretty dry, even trees nearby are starting to droop and their roots run deep I think the South East is probably the worst affected. |

| | | Re: Urgent appeal! Berkshire we had rain for one day about 2 weeks ago and prior to that nothing for at least a month. It's as dry as a bone in the South right now but even when we do get rain, unless it's a downpour for several days the water vanishes in no time. Look around your area and if you can't find any puddles anywhere then it's time to think of where the wildlife are getting their water from.
BHPS etc are fully aware of the problem. PTES are so busy can't get through. Local papers are not interested unless a hedgehog has eaten your Granny. I'm working on other avenues and have got the Twitter thing going as well as Facebook. |

| | | Re: Urgent appeal! Hi, we have two big bird water baths on the ground which the hedgehogs drink from and the baths get topped up day and night as all wildlife are drinking a lot from them.
We installed an outside camera with a memory card which takes photos of everything at night and we often see the visiting hedgehogs. I guess when the hoglets come along they might steer clear though as our garden is also home to a fox family with 6 cubs that are ruining the vegetable garden (never mind!) and getting frisky which is great to watch and they keep out the local cats but maybe not so good for the vulnerable small hoglets.
It is funny to see that the foxes and hedgehogs eat and drink together. Maybe I should place water baths elsewhere in the garden so that the young hoglets have a chance? | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
