| | | A few questions about Fox cubs at the den Hope some one can help I have been put on to a Fox den with at least 4 cubs and I would like to try get some photos of them. I am hoping that some one on here might be able to help me by answering several questions. Firstly they have only been coming out the hole for 2 weeks and by the flattened grass and Bluebells I can see they are venturing up to 30ft away from the Den. What Id like to know is do they emerge during the day when they are this old or is it just in the evening. If they do is early morning, mid day or afternoon the best time or does it just depend? I went up last night and sat from 630pm until 830pm and only got a glance of one cub just after I got there. The Vixen came in with a Rabbit at 830pm and that is when I left before she seen me. Another thing Id like to know is are the Cubs at this age aware that human scent is a dangerous sign? I did stay down wind last night, but there are times where I am sitting the re is a possibility a cub could venture behind me and smell me. I hope some one can help and also any other tips will be most appreciated, thanks a lot.

| | | Re: A few questions about Fox cubs at the den Most of my fox cub photos have either been at night or early in the morning. That's not to say they don't come out in the day (especially sunny days), but early morning is when the adults will be out getting supplies for them so they tend to emerge when the food arrives! I got these shots a couple of years ago. The den was dug into the side of the concrete bridge. |
