| | | Re: A new visitor to the bird feeders Great sequence of photos, Nige, but say goodbye to your feeders.
The only ones we found that could resist the furry dears were the metal seed feeders (but then the squirrels monopolised the feeders so we put them in cages). Even a wire mesh peanut feeder was prised open eventually.
Still good photos and the beasts are fun to watch.

| | | Re: A new visitor to the bird feeders LOL.
I'd love to see some photos of it trying to climb the greasy pole.

| | | Re: A new visitor to the bird feeders I used a funnel halfway up the pole which sorted 'em out for a while but now they just throw themselves at the window, bounce off of that, then catch hold of a hanging tube, like a trapeze artist, grrr....

| | | Re: A new visitor to the bird feeders I had the same problem with squirrels so I made them a special feeder. I bought a cheap nesting box with a flap-up lid and screwed an extra bit of wood to the bottom (this acts as a platform for the squirrel to sit on) screwed it to my shed and filled it with nuts. It took only days for them to work out how to get the nuts out and I haven't had a ruined bird feeder since! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
