| | | Squirrel moving her family. Hello everyone!
I thought I'd share these pictures with you, I'd never seen anything like it before, but I guess it must go on.
I'd been out for a walk and a bit ahead of me I'd noticed what I presumed was a Squirrel going back n forth but didn't think anything of it, when I got closer I could see what she was doing, she was moving her babies to a safer tree, ok it was from a tree overhanging a river to a tree overhanging a road but I suppose she must have thought it to be safer, she must have done this 3 or 4 times or more, it was lovely to see.
Sorry the pics are a bit out of focus, I didn't want to get to close to her and scare her.

| | | Re: Squirrel moving her family. I didn't know squirrels did this. I know our barn cat moves her kittens about 3/4 times before they are 'out and about'. Brilliant pictures and wonderful thing to see. I guess there are not many people who have witnessed that behaviour! |

As you say, though, most people never see it.

| | | Re: Squirrel moving her family. Great photos, you are very lucky to have witnessed that, and to get pictures.
But I think the squirrel needs some lessons from a mother cat on how to carry the babies.
The first one seems to be clutching frantically around her neck. whilst the second one seems to be rather uncomforable and in a rather precarious position. Either she is inexperienced, or mabe that is how squirrels do it, but seems a bit precarious when she is carrying them along branches and down tree trunks. |

I do feel incredibly lucky to have witness this, I doubt I ever will again, I just stood transfixed watching her (and taking photo's) hoping a car didn't come along, thankfully it didn't.
Usually when I see something amazing I don't have my camera with me, but luckily this time I did

| | | Re: Squirrel moving her family. Brilliant. Last year someone posted a video of a water vole moving her babies, and that was also fab. Something I'd love to see. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
