| | | Re: Hedgehog help I also tried to enter sightings and gave up. I put it down to my general lack of ability when attempting anything computerish, but if you've also had trouble then, hey, I'm not alone! |

| | | Re: Hedgehog help I posted a test one and you don't have to enter the grid ref, just leave it blank and click next.
Grid refs are useful as populations can then be mapped to squares on a map which is the way a lot of survey data is compiled.
The site isn't the most friendly though I agree. I hadn't entered any details there before as we collect the data when we talk to people and on our roadshows and then pass on a lot of records. |

| | | Re: Hedgehog help Well done. Feeding stations that are reliable will start to bring them in and the babies will come too very soon. They are hysterically funny to watch so keep your eyes peeled.
I had a mum and four newborns in last night and all I can hear right now is demanding peeps for food followed by suckling noises. Ahhhhh. |

| | | Re: Hedgehog help How lovely, good luck with your new arrivals. I can't wait for a mom and her big babies to visit my garden. With three females and 1 male running around my garden there is a possibility it may happen. Can't wait.
Charlie I will try that sight again. |

| | | Re: Hedgehog help In the end I tippexed five hedgehogs (three females and two males). There may be a sixth but I haven't been able to catch it yet.
Over the last week I've only had one visitor during the whole evening. Last night there were no hedgehogs at all. Although the food I left out over night is mainly eaten. Does this have to do with the wetter weather? Are they now able to find their own food? |

| | | Re: Hedgehog help Wetter weather means they can get at the worms and beetles as they come to the surface. They will always take their natural food first if it's available and use what you provide as a top up. This is why when we have no rain for days on end providing water and food is vital for them. If you could see the state of some of them that have come in over the past few weeks you'd cry. |

| | | Re: Hedgehog help The babies with mum are doing well. I saw them all together for the first time last night as the babies are now experimenting with wobbling out of the nest.
I have two other babies in as well, mum and the sibling were found drowned in a swimming pool. Both doing OK so far but it was touch and go for a while. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
