| | | Bank Vole? Hi folks,
while in the New Forest this morning, I heard a rustling and saw three small brown missiles shoot out from behind a tree and disappear into a pile of branches. I decided to stand still and wait to see if they'd come back out. Sure enough, after about five minutes (and several odd looks from passing dog walkers), I saw the 'fella' below. I couldn't get a clearer shot, unfortunately, as it resolutely refused to leave the cover of the branches. No scale, I'm afraid, but I'd estimate that it was about 6cm long (excluding the tail). I'm pretty sure it's a Bank vole, but I'd appreciate some confirmation:
Cheers,
Marc. |

| | | Re: Bank Vole? I confess to spending hours watching these little cuties. They fascinate me ....but, as you say you can get some odd looks. People look at my camera as they go past, look at the area I am watching and see nothing, LOL. Meanwhile, I am waiting for them to go (the people).....and take all their noise with them.
They are quite partial to bird seed and down at the wildlife park, it is always worth watching the bank underneath the table where the food has dropped

I'll be sure to add some bird seed to the hazel nuts I carry around in my camera bag for the next time I'm down that way.
Cheers,
