| | | A visit to Formby I went to Formby Point Squirrel reserve on Wednesday. I got there quite early thinking the squirrels would be hungry first thing. I asked the attendant at the entrance where was the best bet in early morning. Oh go to the brow and turn left at the sign. This I did with eyes peeled, I searched for about half an hour, guess what - now't!. I went over to an are by a fallen tree I recalled i had seen them there last year. I rustled my peanut bag (yes I suppose I should have bought hazel nuts but I didn't tell the squirrels! sure enough a couple arrived in seconds. I gradually manoevered them towards some light, sat down behind the tripod and they came to my hand. This sounds a little ungrateful but that was a tad too close. I threw some nuts around and gradually several came and chased one another. These are the results, hope you like them. Jon

| | | Re: A visit to Formby nice stuff john - we (boddie , mr cheeky and I) were there before xmas and you are definitely right about the little blighters coming too close - i had to restort to tossing hazel nuts away from us to draw them off a bit.
i'm going back in the spring when the wildflowers (bluebells etc) come out which ought to be a bit of a special background for some squizzel shots

I was there in May of last year and as I am in the north west this weekend I may go back again weather permitting.
The Formby Red Squirrels have to be some of the easiest to see and photograph in England.
