| | | bat poo I have a bat box on my house and last year notice them flying around... the thing is i cant make out which species they are....
i have noticed droppings underneath where the box is but not sure if i could identify the species.. any help would be great . cheers

| | | Re: bat poo If you can post the pictures with the droppings on a ruler. You may have to wait a few weeks for the bats to move back in unless you have kept some droppings or they are back.
Additionally what is the surrounding habitat? suburban housing? are there lots of trees? rivers? ponds? |

| | | Re: bat poo I always keep an eye out on the wall thats underneath the box...and have noticed over the last week several droppings.. i have a small wood next 2 houses away from mine and live in a urban area, but about a quarter mile down the road goes out to fileds.
i have a pond in my garden but approx 1/2 mile is a canal..
give us a sec and ill take some pics...

| | | Re: bat poo Has a Whiskered/Brandt’s look to it, quite bulky although could still be a pipistrelle. Quite a large number of species roost in bat boxes, these droppings are one of the smaller species being 5.5mm-6mm so are pretty much restricted to the small Myotis species (Whiskered, Brandt's) habitat not great for daubentons so unlikely, pipistrelles (most likely common due to the habitat) and leislers again habitat doesnt sound great.
Common pipistrelle would be most likely on location and roost type. |
