With those ear tufts yours is definitely a red.

I think apart from the ground squirrels thet only other one out there is Red.

| | | Re: Squirrel ID please Red Squirrels also tend to show darker pelage in winter where they often go more brown in colour with some grey in the coat. Tufts are also more prevalent in winter.
Regarding colour there are possibly 40 sub-species and they can be very variable as a specie from bright red and black through to buff browns. Some races are dimorphic and trimorphic showing two tones.
