Don't get too excited as not managed to get a photo yet, but I'll keep trying!
I've seen fleeting glimpses of deer here before, but they're usually so skittish its often the rear end as they disappear at a rate of knots! This morning, as we were leaving for school, I noticed our animals (pony and 2 goats) staring at something over the hedge. Didn't take much notice at first, but as I drove out of the lane, my son suddenly pointed at 2 roe deer - a doe and a buck - standing in my neighbour's garden. One was drinking from his pond, the other nibbling bushes. They both saw us and fled before I got a good look, leaping over the hedge and disappearing into a wooded area beyond.
Thinking that would be the end of it I drove on. Came back after school run, and had to go out at 11.30 - drove out again, and there they were in the same spot. This time they didn't notice me immediately, and I stopped and managed to get a good look at them through the hedge for several minutes. The buck eventually heard the car and ran, the doe following a few seconds later. Our neighbour sees them quite regularly, but usually early morning or at dusk, not middle of the day. I'll be keeping my camera at the ready, and hoping too, now I've see a pair, that there may be the patter of tiny feet this year!
