| | | Re: Mink in the Uk I presume people who seek to protect mink in this country ("it's evolution, if water voles can't survive then that's their problem") also take the attitude that rainforest deforestation isn't an issue and orang-utans should just learn to live in cities. If they can't, tough. Or that nobody ought to clean up after an oil spill at sea because if animals die, then it's their fault for not adapting to cope with pollution.
By introducing mink we ruined UK habitat and condemned millions of native animals to death. We can't just walk away whistling. We have to try and put things right. |

Sorry, but I'm rooting for the mink. | It's all very well saying you are rooting for the mink, but what do you propose doing with them - keep them as pets at home as 'nice cuddly creatures' only to escape into the wild to cause destruction again ?

| | | Re: Mink in the Uk The wildlife farm where I work keeps one. But only to show people one so they know what they are like. It is a nasty ol' thing.
In a fishing lake near me down in cornwall the owner traps mink and shoots them. Otters were introduced there, if he catches an otter he moves it up stream away from his lakes. Bank voles were also introduced. He only sets traps on his land but it's good that someone is killing them without harming natives. |

Ok thanks, I'm pretty sure he has permission or whatever is required. But I'll keep quiet. |
