| | | Rats.mice.squirrels? Hi.I put lots of food out for birds everyday...not all gets eaten during the day...most of it now goes missing overnight. It seems that the culprit!!!!! is very clever at shifting fat ball containers across the garden and eating the contents and clearing any seed that is left from the day. There are now 'runs' in the hedge but I have seen nothing yet..Any ideas ?????? |

| | | Re: Rats.mice.squirrels? Could be any of the three you suggested. I would have though rats would be the most likely though. |

| | | Re: Rats.mice.squirrels? Please look at the many other posts here about not using poisonous bait for rats!
We have a couple of squirrels who have become quite adept at carrying feeders away, or even opening them, tipping the contents out and scoffing the lot. We have had to modify most of our peanut and seed feeders to secure the lids to prevent this! |

| | | Re: Rats.mice.squirrels? Simple really, do not leave food out after dusk it attracts Rats and other creatures that are regarded as vermin in our society

| | | Re: Rats.mice.squirrels? Well.....I do try and be recycle friendly too....but I'm afraid the compost heaps are going to have to go as I am sure that this does not help the problem I am having....
I guess leaving seed out all the time, for the birds,is a plan worth rethinking... |

| | | Re: Rats.mice.squirrels? Are your compost heaps ready to use, use them. Rats and mice will always be with us being tidy is best no accessible food around after tea time.
No bread or scraps on the ground, use a ground feeder to make it easy to rempove at night. If you have runs they could be coming into your property,
set traps humane for preference, just their presence will deter in some cases
