| | | Possible tooth. id Hi troops , just wondering if anyone could confirm, whether or not this could be a tooth of some kind please.
( sorry if its in the wrong section , but im a regular on the bird section.)
A little story with it , the mother in law found it in her sink. they have a greyhound which had bleeding gums after eating a raw hide bone, but upon investigation from the father in law, no teeth appeared to be missing.
If it is a tooth could anyone tell me what animal its from.
If not a tooth could it be a nail.
The top end of the subject appears to have a flat cut to it , as if it was cut off.
Any help would be great
cheers

| | | Re: Possible tooth. id Is that tape in inches?
It looks like a Muntjac tusk. These don't have a root, like other teeth, but are more like a hollow sheath at the fat end.
You can see one in place in the skull here: http://www.azdrybones.com/images/Reeves-MuntjacMale.jpg
They can vary in size from abaout 1 cm to 3 cm or more. |

| | | Re: Possible tooth. id How old is the greyhound, could this be a milk tooth.?
If its past puppy stage, have you checked to see if it could be a snapped off retained deciduous tooth, mostly seen behind the top canines.
Regards Chris... |
