House Mouse or Wood Mouse?

Can anybody help?

Presented as a gift by our cat the other night, is this a House Mouse or a Wood Mouse?

I think it's a wood mouse, someone else is bound to know for sure mind.

Its a wood mouse davemangham, they have big ears and bog eyes, I have loads of them living in my garden. Pauline.

It's not a House Mouse, but it could be a Yellow-necked Mouse as well as a Wood Mouse.

Have Yellow-necked mice been recorded in the UK as far north as Staffordshire?

They are recorded within Staffordshire. Personally although you carnt rule YNM out, the pelage colour is much more typical of a woodmouse on this specimen. Woodmice are a darker greyer brown then the richer golden brown of the YNM.
