i am happy but sad,\my son has today found a wild otter here in weeton lancashire, sadly it had been killed by a car!
it is so beautiful.
we are both artists so obviosly we are going to take photos and draw from him/her. but then what? can anyone suggest what to do after?\

Somebody might well like the carcase for examination for pesticide residues, if it is fresh enough, so keep it in the freezer, if possible. Obviously well labelled to deter midnight snackers 
Probably someone else will tell you who is currently doing such work - I don't have the details to hand.

Hi Elizabeth Anne welcome to WAB
Please contact your local Wildlife Trust they will welcome any record of Otters,even road kill,and will know who to contact if they think any further investigation is necessary.

I have given them to the EA in the past not sure if it was a local thing or they still collect them. |

Contact your local EA Ecology or Fisheries team - Lutra House Preston?
The EA collected one from my house last week and they end up at Cardiff Uni where Dr Liz Chadwick gives them a PM. I'll try and find a link later. |

Dr Liz Chadwick would be pleased to receive otter cadavers in what ever state. "If you can scrape it off the road, we'll get something from it". I can attest to that!
The EA will generally assist with collection and delivery.
