| | | Re: Boa constrictor found in bushes.. It may also have died of natural causes, and the body was dumped. Back when I was a teenager and first starting out in herpetology, I used to keep loads of species of snakes along with several friends who jumped on the bandwagon. I remember one of those friends who had a royal python die on him from mouth necrosis. He put the body on somebodys wall along a busy road to watch the reactions of passers by |

Maybe it was dumped, maybe it escaped and succumbed to the cold climate? Who knows? But I cant see anything to criticize in the RSPCA officers comment.

| | | Re: Boa constrictor found in bushes.. A chap just down the road had his mate put a Boa under the floor of his house to kill some Rats, it liked it there so much they had to take the floor up to get it back! The disturbing thing was that they were going to leave it there if it did not come out

A conspiracy of silence, I presume. | If you report a big cat you may be the object of scorn and contumely. If you were to report a 30 foot reticulated python you would either be sectioned or sent into rehab.

A conspiracy of silence, I presume. | I never report it to the press when I make a collection. I get contacted by councils, wildlife hospitals or the RSPCA if it is suspected of being venomous. I doubt they ring the press either. In the seven years I've been doing the job, I've only been aproached by local press three times and one of those times was because I was bitten and had to go to hospital (made front page news that ).
I presume it was from the hospital that the press got wind of it.
Larger boids and pythons I've only ever found once and it escaped from a neighbour. Most are small non venomous colubrids. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
