| | hmmmmm..... im just wondering about otters and thought this is the place to ask it.....
about 2 months ago i was walking along my local river (the river nairn) and thought what i am pretty possitive are otter tracks! they were on the snow coming out of the river and i am wondering if i have any chance of seeing it(or them) or will it have moved on by now.....??? |

| | | Re: hmmmmm..... hi jackkk welcome to wab have you a photo of said tracks ? or could you describe them it may well be an otter or mink or any other mustalid if it is otter they will remain in the area what time of day did you notice the tracks

| | | Re: hmmmmm..... no photos im afraid  but they were about the size of a small/medium dog.I would say around 2 or 3 in the afternoon and like i said it was a month or two ago but they moved up stream and i couldnt find any tracks going back down..... |

| | | Re: hmmmmm..... Funnily enough I was walking along the River Nairn on Sunday, upstream of the Howford Bridge towards Cawdor. On a sandy area at the edge of the river I also saw what I think were Otter tracks.
I had a look on the NBN gateway, and there are a few records of Otters along the River Nairn, so it's possible that we both saw Otter tracks. There are also a few dogs walked along there, so it's also possible that they were dog tracks.
It's a lovely river to walk, there are areas where I've seen Brown Hare and Roe Deer and the Howford Bridge to Cawdor stretch has plenty of Dippers. It's good Botany wise as well, there will soon be thousands of White Butterbur out, I saw the buds pushing through the soil on Sunday, with a few Giant Butterbur a bit later.
