| | | Various mammal droppings for conformation/ID Found these yesterday in a disused quarry in Northampton that we are making a plan for. Now tracks and signs are something I am pretty new too and me and a friend have identified a few but would like some conformation on these if possible. Like a complete idiot I forgot to bring a rule to help gauge the size so apologies for that. Sorry if these spoil anyones tea
1. Possibly fox or maybe badger?
2.
3. All close to one another, had a reddish colouration, plus next to prey
4. We think possibly Mink?
5. Finally these tracks, they was not very large, rabbits and stoats have been seen in the area, but don't fit the description in my book (possible dog)? |

4 looks like a fox dropping too how big was it?
5. How big are they? they dont show much detail but I suspect they are rabbit. They are not from a mustelid or fox. |

| | | Re: Various mammal droppings for conformation/ID No.4. 70 mm approx, this looks like two different types of droppings against each other, but I am not knowledgeable in this.
No.5. 40mm approx, apologies we never brought a rule as it wasn't actually our intention to look for tracks and signs. Hope these help. |

Not sure about the footprints however, whatever it is, doesn't retract its claws. I thought they looked a bit broad for rabbit although they're together like rabbits place their front feet.

Rabbits also tend not to leave clear prints. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
