| | | Re: Giant Fox Killed Presumably once you've crossed the barrier of natural resistance to killing another creature, it becomes easier? I think it deminishes a person, so he is the loser, and sadly, his son, who got to pose beside the fox, hung up like a trophy kill.

| | | Re: Giant Fox Killed As far as its being a "giant" fox is concerned, the reaction on the hunting forum to which I belong is that someone is either telling porkies or is an idjit. Big, healthy bin fed fox but there's bigger out there.
On a point of information, the vet's actions appear to have been completely legal. Foxes are not protected and there is no closed season. The foxes were live trapped and put down by lethal injection, administered by a qualified person.

" Giant mutant foxes will kill your children" " Act now to end this terror stalking the streets"

" Giant mutant foxes will kill your children" " Act now to end this terror stalking the streets" | And as you know, I agree with you on all three points. I mentioned the legality only because another poster asked whether the killing was legal. There is, or has been, an anti-fox agenda in the right wing press, which must surely be an attempt to gain support for repeal of the HWD Act. Perhaps now Cameron has dropped the idea of a free vote on the issue - because he'd lose - the whole thing may fizzle out. What effect a return of Tarquin and Fiona Tosspot-Smythe to our rural economy would have on the urban fox population is at best debatable anyway!

" Giant mutant foxes will kill your children" " Act now to end this terror stalking the streets" | Good points totally agree - remember though he had to kill two foxes to ensure he killed the right "presumed" fox!!! |

| | | Re: Giant Fox Killed All vets aren't bad.
Our vets, who live a few doors down from me have chickens, ducks, wildlife ponds etc. I once said to them that I had seen a fox heading up their lane. Bless 'em, they didn't immediately head for the nearest shotgun, but put up another ring of wooden fencing with extra electric fencing besides.
Nice to know some people can think logically & do things right.
Wild-woman I love your local fox too!

| | | Re: Giant Fox Killed I may well be wrong but I am under the impression that in an Urban or residential environment the culling of foxes is permitted by law, however you must be sure to enrol the services of a pest control company who is able and willing to rise to the challenge rather than take pot shots at animals yourself.
